Mid-Hudson Announces Fiber-to-the-Home Upgrade

New network brings Multi-Gig symmetrical internet speeds to local service provider.

CATSKILL, NY., March 28, 2023 – Mid-Hudson Cablevision (“Mid-Hudson”) announces that they have substantially upgraded their current Fiber network throughout their service area in Greene, Columbia and Southern Albany Counties with next-generation fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband services. Mid-Hudson continues to fully fund the multimillion-dollar construction project that will bring symmetrical multi-gig internet speeds to area residents and businesses.

“Mid-Hudson has always prioritized the enhancement, quality and availability of the most advanced technology and we could not be more pleased on the improvement and growth of our Fiber network. Our goal has always been to provide fast, reliable and secure broadband services to the areas we service and now this will continue with FTTH.” said James Reynolds, President of Mid-Hudson Cablevision. “We look forward to this significant development for the communities we serve.”

This conversion is well underway in all parts of the footprint and Mid-Hudson will continue to build redundant and geographically diverse core network facilities to ensure services will remain fast, reliable and secure. This upgrade brings a future-proof fiber-to-the-home network to all of our current and future customers. Fiber enables multi-gigabit internet access with symmetrical upload and download speeds. All Mid-Hudson customers will have the ability to convert to FTTH with no installation fees and will instantly see a significant increase to their internet speeds without a cost increase.

“Mid-Hudson’s fiber network has been growing exponentially over the last couple of years, especially after the onset of Covid-19. We are proud to continue this growth in our existing market. Mid-Hudson has garnered healthy relationships within the community over the past 52 years and we know this significant investment will help drive further economic development in this area.” Said Director of Community Relations and Planning, Rachel Puckett.

Fiber provides an additional layer of security and reliability to high-bandwidth connections that can handle multiple devices within a home or business without buffering while streaming, gaming or video conferencing.
